Hello! I am Jacob Lewis, I am a new teacher at Erin School this year, teaching Social Studies. I am from West Bend, Wisconsin, and graduated from West Bend East High School. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Radio, TV, and Film from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2022, where I had the opportunity to work in radio for a few years. After discussing my future with my grandfather (who had an extensive career in education as a History teacher), and talking with my wife, I decided to return to Oshkosh and get my degree in Education, which I earned in 2024.
Growing up, learning Social Studies always caught my attention, and my goal is to share the importance of our past to show how we, as a people, reached this point in our history. As Winston Churchill once said, “If we can not learn from our past, we are doomed to repeat it.”
In 6th Grade, we learn all about the ancient civilizations and dive into simulations that challenge students, but also allow them to engage in topics that seem so far in our past. In 7th and 8th grade, we dive into U.S. history. In 7th Grade, we dig deeper into the founding of our country and the battles we faced pulling us to the Civil War. In 8th grade, we look at history from the Civil War forward and all of the storied events that drive us to where we are today. I look forward to recreating mock trials, thinking critically about economics, and the strength and resilience our country has faced over our storied past.
I currently live in West Bend with my wife and our Goldendoodle. When I am not at school, I enjoy watching sports, catching up with friends and family, and training for my next race!
