Don’t worry, there isn’t a new social studies teacher in town – I just got married this summer! My name is Rachel Martin (but you may remember me as Miss Gerth) and I have been teaching Middle School Social Studies at Erin since 2012. I also continue to advise Erin School Student Council. I grew up in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin and graduated from Horicon High School. I then attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where I graduated in 2010 with a degree in History and minors in Education and Political Science. In my free time I like to read, work on arts and crafts projects, and support the Green Bay Packers.
Throughout the year we will learn about the past through reading, writing, and researching as well as through simulations, debates, and trials. Stay tuned to my website for photos and videos of our classroom activities!
This year I will also be teaching 8th Grade Technology as well! In Web 2.0 students will discover, analyze and evaluate a wide variety of Web 2.0 resources and determine the educational purpose and personal applications of those resources. Students will create public service announcement videos, design a website, and learn financial literacy skills.
