It is my goal is as a teacher to make EVERY child feel successful, valued, and loved. I am so thrilled to be teaching second grade at Erin Elementary School! I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2000 and recieved my Master’s degree in elementary education from Mounty Mary College in 2006. I have 10 years of experience teaching first through fifth grade in Waukesha and I have taught second grade at Erin School since 2014. I’m looking forward to getting to know the families and students at Erin this school year!

Education is made up of a community of students, parents, and staff. This sense of community is developed through maintaining high academic and behavioral standards, using innovative technology, and creating a nurturing environment in which to learn.  Students come to school with specific social, emotional, and educational needs. Each student also comes with special talents and abilities. I wish to help all children find their potential, so they too can find their own personal gifts. I truly enjoy working with children and consider it a privilege to have a positive influence on their lives. The years I spent teaching have been some of the most rewarding of my life. I have had the opportunity to work with children of diverse backgrounds and ability levels.

Everyday brings new opportunities and challenges to reach my students and bring the best out in them. I do this through building strong relationships with parents and being proactive in communicating with them. I strive to be a positive role model to my students, show a genuine interest in their success and help them persevere through their struggles. I create a positive and safe environment in which children feel comfortable sharing their ideas. I made the choice to stay home with my own children, and those years have given me insight from a parent’s perspective on the kind of teacher I want to be. I have seen how key parent communication is and how significant role of the parent and teacher are in a child’s life and education.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growing together!
